Amanda
Belyea - Director/Instructor/Choreographer
Donning her first dance shoes at the age of five
Amanda has trained for over 20 years, winning numerous outstanding
awards during that time. As 'Beginner Miss Majorette of Canada',
she represented her country at Notre Dame University in Southbend,
Indiana where she won the title 'Beginner Miss Majorette of America'.
Other significant highlights include dancing with Loggerythms
at the Ottawa Corel Center and winning a scholarship to further
train in New York City, where she was scouted by a talent agency.
In 1999 Amanda co-founded Pointe of Grace Dance
Company and discovered her true passion in choreography. Recently
she was awarded 'Top Overall Choreographer' from an internationally
established competition. Under Amanda's strong tutelage her dancers
have had great success in winning overall awards as her creativity
and originality continue to set both her and choreography apart.
A BATD certified instructor, Amanda teaches in both jazz and lyrical
styles.
Carly
Sherwin - Director/Instructor/Choreographer
An Ottawa native, Carly has thrived on performing
since the age of four. Though specialized in ballet, she also
has extensive training in jazz, tap and lyrical. During her almost
20 years of dance, Carly competed throughout North America, winning
numerous top awards. Her most notable honour was winning the lead
role the Ottawa ballet production, “A Cry for the Damned”. With
that experience under her belt she furthered her dance training
by attending workshops and seminars with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet
and later won a scholarship to New York City where she honed her
skills as both a dancer and instructor.
In 1998 Carly turned her focus to her teaching
career, free lance teaching at a number of Ottawa area schools
before becoming co-director of Pointe of Grace Dance Company.
She now enjoys focussing her efforts on training as she directs
the company’s ballet program. Her choreography has won her high
regard in the competition circuit with her students winning many
prestigious awards.
Carly is a certified B.A.T.D.
instructor and is currently working on her Associate for the Cecchetti
syllabus (ballet).
Erin
Cavanagh - Director/Instructor/Choreographer
Since the age of four, Erin has thrived on performing.
Her passion for the art of dance in tap, jazz and ballet quickly
grew from a love of training and study to competing throughout
North America where she enjoyed many top National and International
honours.
After many successful years of dance, Erin sought
a new challenge and turned her focus to musical theatre winning
roles performing in The Company of Musical Theatre's (CMT) productions
of Will Rogers Follies, Crazy for You, and A West Side Story both
as a dancer and soprano singer. Her favourite accomplishments
to date is earning the 'Acting Award of Distinctive Merit' at
the Sears Ontario Drama Festival as the lead in Neil Simon's comedic
play Rumors.
Erin, who is bilingual, maintained her commitment
to instructing and choreographing while completed her Bachelor
of Arts Degree High Honours in Mass Communication and Sociology
in 2002. Recently, she has helped to implement a very successful
dance program for Ottawa's Algonquin College teaching both Hip-Hop
and Jazz and she continues to serve as Co-Owner and Co-Director
of the thriving Pointe of Grace Dance Company.
